Hola! 

My name is Maria Ruiz and I am originally from Colombia. I am an Associate Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in School Counseling. I am fluent in Spanish and I am privileged to use my skills to serve a diverse community and bridging cultural and linguistic gaps. 

My professional experience spans working with children aged 4 to 18, where I have honed my skills in addressing a wide range of developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs. My approach to counseling is grounded in person-centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral techniques, ensuring that each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of my clients. In my practice, you will find a judgment-free zone where empathy and compassion are at the core of every interaction. 

As a mother of two boys on the autism spectrum, I bring a profound appreciation for neurodiversity. My personal experiences have enriched my understanding and deepened my commitment to fostering inclusive environments that respect and celebrate individual differences. My goal as a counselor is to support and guide you through self-reflection and to provide you with practical strategies and a safe space for growth and self-expression. 

In my free time, I relish spending moments with my family and friends. Whether it's outdoor cooking, shopping, or enjoying a good comedy show, these activities offer me joy and balance. I am also passionate about inclusion and continually seek to expand my knowledge, including exploring modalities such as EMDR to enhance my practice.
