Mary Elise Roberts

Masters Level Intern

Hi! My name is Mary Elise Roberts, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercer University. I graduated from Georgia College & State University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have wanted to be a therapist for as long as I can remember. I was always the friend people came to when they needed someone to listen or help them see another perspective, and over time, that grew into a passion for understanding people and relationships.

A little bit about me professionally: I am especially excited to work with couples and have a strong interest in relationships, conflict, and self-esteem, but I look forward to working with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life. Above all, I want my clients to feel heard. I believe there are often multiple perspectives within the same story, and therapy should be a place where you can be honest and completely yourself.

My approach is largely influenced by Bowen Family Systems Theory. I enjoy looking beyond what is happening in the present and exploring how family experiences, relationship histories, and patterns may influence the way we think, feel, and connect with others today. I believe understanding where our patterns come from can help us decide which ones we want to carry forward and which ones we are ready to change.

My Christian faith is also an important part of who I am. At the heart of my faith is a desire to treat others the way Jesus would—with love, compassion, grace, and without judgment. I want people from all backgrounds and walks of life to feel welcomed and valued in my therapy room.

A little bit about me personally: I love being outdoors, spending time with my family and friends, and taking walks downtown for Mexican food and a good catch-up. I also enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and, of course, my cuddly rescue dog, Bailey, who I am convinced is just about perfect.

Therapy can feel intimidating, so my hope is to make it feel a little less intimidating and a lot more human. I look forward to creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as we work toward stronger relationships, greater confidence, and meaningful change.

Please note, I do not accept insurance, but a monthly super bill will be uploaded to your client portal should you wish to submit for reimbursement. HSA & FSA cards are accepted.
